Pete is a project with potential. He's a pretty mover—smooth to ride, willing to work in both directions, and genuinely enjoys his job. Seven months of professional reining training gave him a solid foundation: he seeks the stop, works off heavy leg pressure, and has a natural slide.
Then there's the rest of Pete.
Although few and far between, he does buck. We haven't figured out why or when, just that he does.
At my age, I'm more interested in staying out of the dirt than trying to determine why, so Pete needs someone younger, braver, or both.
He's not spooky, prefers whoa over go, and has a good attitude but also still has a buck every couple of rides. For a confident rider willing to finish what the trainer started, Pete could turn into a solid ranch horse or reining prospect.
